Blue Sky Ecological Decor BE GREEN - BE CLEAN
Blue Sky uses only natural paint products. Cleaner. Healthier. Safer.

Why Blue Sky Ecological Decor?
The highest quality of work matched with an understanding of natural paints and products equals an outstanding service that delivers guaranteed customer satisfaction.

Why Natural Paints and Products?
Peace of Mind. Eco Friendly. Does not harm the environment. Does not harm YOU. Normal paints can pollute the home for up to 2 years. Natural paints do not cause any pollution, regulate humidity, control condensation and are anti static because they do not contain any plastics and attract little or no dust.

The Pros and Cons?
The conception that natural paints are expensive is misguided. Some paints are more expensive but others are cheaper and overall the cost evens itself out. The pros, (apart from the obvious health benefits!) are:
1. The lack of plastic in natural paints means no static. Static creates dust.
2. Natural paints are a big benefit for Asthma sufferers.
3. Natural paints are permeable (breathable) which helps regulate humidity (damp) which is a big benefit to anyone with respiratory problems.
4. Natural paints appear more natural in that they do not have a plastic skin.

Are the choices limited?
No. The companies products that I use - Biofa, Earthborn, Auro, Beeck, Keim and Aglaia offer all the choice you will ever need. Not only is there a large choice of ready made colours, most of the above companies produce pigments to add to their paint. Choices are only limited by your imagination!

What constitutes a “Natural” Paint?
Natural paint, as opposed to the normal petro-chemical or synthetic paint only contains naturally occurring and abundant/renewable solvents, binders and fillers. Common ingredients being plant oils, citrus oils, tree resins, linseed oil, turpentine (from pine trees) chalk, talc, clay and marble. Smell. Most natural paints that I use also have a natural smell (being predominately lemon scented) on application, thus avoiding the strong chemical smell of normal paints.

How does Natural Paint perform in comparison to petro-chemical and synthetic paint?
Very favorably. For instance, mineral paint for external use on masonry, concrete etc has a life span that far outperforms everyday paint. A mineral paint applied to bare walls will last at least *20 years (*in some instances mineral paint is on record of lasting 100 or more years) Natural interior paints last longer because they are permeable (breathable) thus preventing ‘blowing’ and peeling. Natural paints because of the lack of synthetic polymers are considerably more colour fast and less photo sensitive. The true colour lasts a lot longer because of the improved longevity and the increased ‘fresh paint’ look. The paint cycle is also much reduced making using natural paint much more economical.

What types of natural paints are there and where can they be used?
There are as many types of natural paint as there are everyday paints. Furthermore natural emulsions can be clay or casein (milk protein). Woodwork paints include linseed oil based paint which offers excellent longevity and colour fast properties. These paints can be used anywhere petro chemical or synthetic paints are used.

SUMMARY:
Painting with natural paints gives me a tremendous sense of personal gratification that I am actively doing something for the environment in general, and in particular every house that I work in/on without compromising my own exacting professional standards. I also have of course the added bonus of looking after my clients health as well as my own by using only natural paints.

I have been involved in decorating and painting since 1981 and now much prefer the finish of natural paints -  and in the case of some of the wall paints - the superior tactile nature of natural wall paints.

Experience the difference..
Feel the difference...
Natural Paints are the way ahead - and the future of paints and commercial painting.
